New Diagram Layers and Website Enhancements Now Available
ISAUnited is pleased to announce a major communication and usability update for the Defensible 10 Standards. The 2026 Parent Standards now include new diagram layers that help practitioners, engineers, students, reviewers, and organizations better understand how each standard is structured, implemented, tested, and supported with evidence.
These updates are part of ISAUnited’s continued effort to make cybersecurity architecture and engineering standards more understandable, practical, measurable, and adoption-ready.
The new visual updates are being integrated across the Defensible 10 Standards and reflected throughout the updated Defensible10.org website.
Improving How Practitioners Understand the Standard
The Defensible 10 Standards are designed to help organizations move cybersecurity from intent to engineered outcomes. To support that goal, ISAUnited has added visual diagram layers that make each Parent Standard easier to communicate, teach, review, and apply.
Each updated standard now includes visual support for three important sections:
Section 6: Technical Specifications
The Section 6 diagrams illustrate the major technical outputs expected from each domain. These visuals help readers quickly understand the architecture patterns, engineering expectations, control areas, and technical deliverables that support the standard.
Section 12: Verification and Validation
The Section 12 diagrams separate verification and validation activities so practitioners can better understand the difference between confirming correct implementation and confirming real-world effectiveness.
Verification helps answer: Was the standard implemented correctly?
Validation helps answer: Does the implemented capability perform effectively under expected and adverse conditions?s.
Section 13: Implementation Guidance
The Section 13 diagrams help explain how teams can translate the Parent Standard into practical engineering actions, including requirements interpretation, technical planning, control implementation, testing, evidence production, and continuous improvement.
These new diagram layers strengthen the Defensible 10 Standards by making each domain easier to understand, communicate, review, and adopt.
ISAUnited will continue improving the standards experience through clearer visuals, stronger implementation guidance, and evidence-focused resources that support practical cybersecurity architecture and engineering.

ISAUnited will continue publishing updates as the Defensible 10 Standards evolve and the Associate Standards roadmap moves forward.
Associate Standards will extend the Parent Standards with deeper technical implementation guidance, validation methods, control-specific practices, and evidence expectations. These future standards will help practitioners move from parent-level architecture and engineering intent into more detailed, testable, and adoption-ready guidance.
